We rush life. We rush healing. We’re always trying to get to the next destination. But here’s the thing- we’re at the destination we once wished for. Whether that’s sobriety, a dream job, the relationship we have with ourselves, a home, etc. Whatever it is, we wanted what we have now.
But we don’t always see it. Not because of a lack of gratitude or appreciation, but because we haven’t slowed down long enough to savor what we have.
That’s why I love to have candle rituals- sometimes I pray, sometimes I express gratitude, sometimes I just like to enjoy the stillness of these quiet moments. It helps us to honor our journey and find heartfelt gratitude for the things we may not have even noticed.
The following is one of my favorites. It’s a reminder that our prayers will be answered. We just need to lean into our own softness and surrender to the beauty of it all, no matter how messy and chaotic life can seem at times.
I wrote the prayer below to help get out of my own way and also to know that help is just a prayer away. Of course, you can write your own if you prefer.
You can use this candle ritual whenever you want to lean into your divinity, have a quiet moment, and connect with your spiritual team. If you want to do this every morning with your daily rituals or every night to reprogram your subconscious mind, go for it.
You also don’t have to be so structured and rigid about how you do this- you can use any type of candle you want. Personally, I use white or gold ritual candles because I associate the Divine with those colors and let the candle extinguish on its own. If you only have regular candles on hand, use it. This is about coming home to ourselves, not following the rules.

RITUAL:
- Use whatever type of candle you have.
- Place one hand on your heart.
- Inhale deeply and slowly. Exhale slowly and deeply. Repeat this until you feel calm and at peace.
- Say the prayer below or your own as you light the candle.
- Express gratitude for what you have and everything that’s making its way to you.
- Sit with yourself for a moment to embrace the stillness.
- If you’re using a ritual candle, you can let it extinguish on its own. If you’re using a regular candle, you can blow it out whenever you’re ready.
PRAYER:
As I light this candle, I hear the whispers of my soul.
As this candle flickers, I see my path illuminated for me.
As this candle sparks, my creativity is ignited with eternal passion.
As this candle burns, my fears dissolve into the ethers.
As this candle extinguishes, I surrender to the wisdom of the Universe/God.
I’ll see you soon…in the meantime, love yourself so much that even a Hallmark Christmas movie would be jealous.
