In honor of the spring equinox, I wanted to do a 30 day holistic sobriety challenge. Being that it’s a time of rebirth and renewal, well, what better way than to honor it with one tip a day to help us transform mind, body, and soul? 

This was inspired by the Sober Weekly Tips I have on Pinterest combined with the 30 day energy cleanse. It’s to help you have bite sized, digestible pieces to begin building a foundation in your recovery journey while also taking the stress out of it.

WHAT’S YOUR WORD?

Pick a word that embodies what you want your sobriety journey or the next year to look/feel like. Pick it with intention. Choose it based on who you want to become. It’s going to help you stay committed to your recovery while serving as an anchor when those moments of doubt and frustration creep in.

MIND. BODY. SOUL.

Nourish your mind. Care for your body. Align with your soul. Do things that make you feel good about yourself that also support your growth. You don’t need to make drastic overnight changes or do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Small consistent changes will eventually become a lifestyle. Honor your journey with what feels right for you.

ONE BREATH AT A TIME

Rewrite your story one breath at a time.Sometimes a day is too long. At times, a minute is eternal. In those moments, take it one breath at a time. 

HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL?

One thing that really transformed my sobriety was when I stopped focusing on what I wanted and started focusing on how I wanted to feel. Do things that make you feel safe in your body, things that bring you happiness and peace and watch how different you become. 

CREATE RITUALS

Transform the mundane into moments you cherish. Burn a candle while folding laundry. Meditate while washing dishes. Visualize what you want in the shower. 

TAKE A CHANCE ON YOURSELF

You’re worth your own investment, so take a chance on yourself. If you feel stuck or trapped by fear, ask yourself: will you be more proud of the mistakes you’ve made, or the chances you didn’t take? 

CONNECT TO YOUR HEART

The heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain to the heart. The heart also has the ability to store both short and long term memories, think, and feel. So, heal from your heart and follow it with wild passionate abandon.

DONATE/SELL OLD THINGS 

Nothing clears stagnant energy more than releasing things that you no longer use/wear. The dress you keep saying you’ll wear again one day even though it’s been a few years? The sweater you just had to buy because it was on sale but it’s not really flattering? The pair of jeans that don’t fit quite right? Let them go. Make room for the new you to emerge.

INHALE PEACE. EXHALE FEAR.

Let your breath guide the way. Inhale everything that makes you happy. Exhale everything that brings you down. 

SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECIES

Hebb’s Law says that neurons that fire together, wire together. So create a new reality with empowering thoughts that you want to live and breathe by- “I am healed. I am at peace. I love myself.”

MAKE SOMETHING

When was the last time you made something with your hands- like baked bread or cake? Made jewelry? DIY decor? You get to explore your creativity while getting out of your head, even if it’s for just a few moments. And I’m sure you know, but it’s worth mentioning that Pinterest is amazing for finding inspiration. So, even if you feel like you don’t have a creative bone in your body, you’ll find something to try out. 

SHOW UP DIFFERENTLY

The life we want doesn’t come from wanting, it comes from alignment. So, stop showing up as the version that feels you have to atone for being who you are, wondering where your place in the world is, and start showing up as the elevated, healed version of yourself. 

CHOOSE OVER CAN’T 

When we give ourselves a choice, we reclaim our power from whatever is controlling us. Even if you don’t feel like you have a choice in the matter, word it as if the choice is yours. Here’s an example- I can’t drink VS. I choose not to drink. “I can’t” sounds defeating but “I choose” makes you feel confident and empowered.

OWN YOUR DIVINITY

You are so much bigger than your problems, stresses, and worries. It may not seem like it right now, but everything will work out for you. So shift your reality by stepping into the knowing that you can and will have everything your heart desires. And in case you need a reminder- you are the result of exploding stars. The Universe is quite literally within you.

SAVOR THE FIRST SIP OF COFFEE/TEA

Have you ever had a quiet moment with yourself and that first sip? I mean, really enjoy it and feel pure bliss? If not, take a moment to embrace the magic of slowing down and getting present, getting still, being with yourself. 

MAKE IMAGINATION REALITY

We stimulate the same neural pathways when we’re imagining something as when we’re experiencing it. So, let your imagination work in your favor. Instead of thinking of worst case scenarios, think of best case scenarios. 

SHOWER CLEANSE 

Want an instant shift in energy? When you’re in the shower, imagine the water washing away your stress. Imagine the steam lifting away your burdens and worries. Imagine the heat melting away all of the tension in your body. Then imagine the water renewing you- spiritually, energetically, physically, emotionally, mentally.

ONLY SOUL YES

If it doesn’t set your soul on fire, then it’s not a soul yes. Say no to everything that doesn’t fill you with passion.

PURGE WRITE

Write down whatever is preventing you from being the happiest version of yourself- the minor annoyances, the past that refuses to accept a clean break, wishing you made different decisions, etc. Use pen and paper to write out everything. When you’re done, safely burn it.

EVERY BREATH IS A NEW BEGINNING

Every breath you take holds the power to have a life defining moment- the moment when you decide you no longer want to be a hostage to your pain, shackled to the past, or to let anyone or anything dictate your worth. The new beginning you want is right here, waiting for you. Walk into it with each breath you take.

GO FOR A WALK

Get outside and take in the scent of the fresh air. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Admire the beauty of nature. Hug a tree if you feel called. Let the outdoors be your therapy.

FEEL GRATITUDE 

Gratitude is about quality, not quantity. So, FEEL it from your heart. The more you feel it, the more you embody it until it becomes who you are.

AROMATHERAPY 

Your favorite scented candle, the aroma of freshly roasted coffee, or even inhaling essential oils does wonders for your mood and energy. Feeling down? Try inhaling lemon or sweet orange essential oil. Need to destress? Inhale lavender essential oil. Feeling tired? Try peppermint or grapefruit essential oil.

DECISIONS OVER INTENTIONS 

Intentions are hopeful. Decisions are absolute. Make one decision today. Even a small one will change your life.

REDEFINE MEDITATION 

We can sit down with our eyes closed everyday, but what happens when we open our eyes? Meditation isn’t just in stillness. It’s in the everyday moments. Treat each moment as a meditation. 

YOU ARE THE ELIXIR 

It’s not outside of you. It’s within you. It always has been. It always will be. Live life as the elixir.

HOPE. LOVE. FAITH.

Let hope fill your heart. 

Let love be your weapon. 

Let faith be your guide.

WEAR YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT

There’s just something about your energy when you’re wearing something you really love. That confidence can be felt from everyone, including yourself, because it’s coming from within. You know you look, and so, you feel great. Put on your favorite outfit. Even if you’re not going anywhere. Because this is about doing it for yourself.

EMBRACE THE DARKNESS

Embrace the darkness. We have to rise in the darkness before we can stand in the light. Own your shadows, own your anger, own your shame. Own everything you think makes you unlovable. When you do, you’ll find the light, your light. 

MANIFEST WITH INTENTION

Don’t focus on how to get what you want because want will only create more want. Instead, focus on already having what you want. When you align yourself with already having everything you dream of with gratitude, you shift your energy into a state of receiving.

I hope you enjoy this challenge and that it makes sobriety a little easier on you.
