With 10 free ways to use moon water, you have the ability to create magic everyday. Because all of us could use a little more magic in our lives, right?
You may be wondering what moon water is. Simply put- it’s boiled or distilled water charged under the rays of the moon to harness the divine feminine energies. And it can be used for whatever you’d like- it’s not just limited to these 10 ways. Allow your imagination to roam wild and free with this.
Before I show you the simple and free tricks, let me give you a rundown on the symbolism of the moon.
Symbolism of the moon
The moon has always been a source of fascination and sometimes, thought to be a destructive force that roamed the night skies looking for victims. Whether it was through art, rituals, ceremonies, or looking to the moon as a Goddess to be worshipped, the allure of its enigmatic force has been documented throughout the years.
Women’s menstrual cycles were thought to be in conjunction with the phases of the moon. A woman who was fertile had her menstrual cycle during a New Moon. Whereas, a woman who already had children would menstruate with the Full Moon- to signify being a midwife. It was then her role to aid a woman who was menstruating with the New Moon.
In both ancient and modern day astrology, the moon is said to govern the emotions of a person. This is because the moon influences the tides of the water and because the human brain consists of at least 75% water, it makes sense that the moon can be impactful to a person’s emotions.
Ancient astrology even says that a person’s personality is going to be dictated by the time of the day when they’re born. If someone was born during the day, their persona will reflect their sun sign. If a person is born during the night, when the moon rules the sky, the person’s moon sign will be dominant in their personality.
Because the moon is a feminine celestial body, it is believed that working in tandem with the moon, people will embrace their divine inner femininity.
The word lunacy comes from Luna, the Latin name for the moon goddess.
Lunar eclipses used to be feared because it appeared as if the sky was swallowing the moon.
There is so much more that can be said of the moon and its symbolism with all the mythologies and folklore written about her energies.
If you want to build a deeper and more nurturing connection with the divine, you can read about new moon rituals HERE and a full moon ritual HERE.
Which is what brings me to this post of ways of using moon water in your daily routines. But before you can use it, you need to collect it.
How to make moon water:
- During the next new or full moon, fill a large glass container (a gallon would be perfect) with distilled or boiled water.
- Once you cover it with a lid, place the container outside or on a window sill to be charged under the powers of Lady Luna.
- You can leave the jar of water for a few hours or overnight to absorb the energies of the moon.
1. Moon water toner
All you need to do is add a tiny amount of moon water to your face and body toner to absorb the magical qualities of the moon. A tablespoon will do. A little goes a long way. Just take some of your charged water and pour some into your toner. And voila! Moon water for beauty.
2. Add it to your coffee/tea
Pour just a tiny bit of moon water into your morning beverage of choice. Express gratitude to Lady Luna for allowing you to use her energies. Set an intention or pray. Then sip away knowing that she is working for you and with you.
3. Add moon water to your bath
The next time you choose to indulge with a soak in the tub, pour a bit of the moon water into the tub. Luxuriate in the energies of the moon, permeating into your body, infusing yourself with the power of the moon.
Add an extra oomph and potency to your bath by thinking about what you want to bring into your life. This is really killing two birds with one stone because you’ll be relaxing while setting your intentions.
4. Water your plants
Ok, so this may not just be about how you can benefit from the moon’s energies, but you’ve got plenty to spare. You might as well pay it forward to Mother Nature with some of Lady Luna.
When you water your plants, a tiny spritz of the moon water will help them out. If you don’t have plants, you can always pour some moon water into the ground to reap the benefits of giving back.
5. Bake & cook with moon water
This one is just so freaking awesome. Remember, a little moon water goes a long way here. If you’re making a stock, one tablespoon will suffice. If a baking recipe calls for one tablespoon of water, you can keep it to one tablespoon of moon water so you don’t have to do other measurements. Keep it simple.
Who knew that you could benefit from the moon’s energies through eating?
6. Add moon water to your laundry
Yeah, this is equally amazing along with cooking and baking with moon water. After you take your clothes out of the washing machine and before you complete the drying cycle, pour about a tablespoon onto your clothes. You don’t want the energies of the moon to be laundered away when washing your clothes. Also, your clothes may not necessarily be dirty, but they may not have the best energies on there. You want to keep it fresh with clean clothes. Then allow the moon water to absorb into your clothing while your clothes are drying.
7. Charge your tarot cards & journals
You probably already know about charging your tarot cards during a full moon. Personally, I can’t wait an entire month to charge mine. I don’t care for the smell of sage and I get too lazy to light up palo santo at times. Which is why the power of the moon is perfect for charging tarot cards.
All you need to do is place your container of moon water (make sure the container has no leaks and is dry) onto your tarot cards and your journals.
If you’re anything like me, you sometimes vent in your journal. Ok, maybe a lot. Anyway, your negativity is being infused into your journal. If you take the time to free up those energies, then you’re removing what is no longer serving you for your highest good.
You can also charge your crystals in moon water. Just make sure the crystal your charging is a friendly ally of water.
8. Carry moon water in your pocket or purse
You might as well make the most of the moon water by carrying it around with you. All you need is an amber glass bottle with an eye dropper to keep some water in there. It’s important that you keep an amber colored bottle of your going to carry it around so that the sun’s rays don’t tamper with the energies of the moon water. Every time you need a pick me up, pour some water onto your hands to give you a quick cleanse and recharge.
9. Keep moon water in your closets & drawers
Just as you would keep sachets with herbs and fragrances to keep your wardrobe fresh, the same concept applies with the powers of Lady Luna. Instead, this is constantly charging your clothes, sheets, and towels. All you need are some small glass jars with screw on lids and you’re good to go.
10. Manifest with moon water
If you haven’t heard of manifesting with water, it’s a really powerful technique using only water. Why not increase the potency of willing your desires into existence with moon water?
The theory of this stems from Dr. Emoto’s water experiments. He took 3 jars, all filled with water and spoke to each one. The first one he told he loved. The second, he claimed he hated. The third was flat out ignored. He left them for a month and when he returned, he noticed that the molecular structures had changed.
Simply setting intentions before you drink some moon water will add a dose of magic. But, labeling your moon water will add an extra oomph to your spells.
Remember when I said that our brains are about 75% water? Well, the average human body has about 50%-60% water- age, gender, and the shape of the body playing factors.
Let’s tie in the findings of Dr. Emoto’s water experiments with the body being at least half water with the brain being about ¾ water. Imagine how you can change your life just by changing your intentions and thoughts?
Now, add moon water to the equation and you’ll be an alchemist in no time.
