I don’t know if you feel the same way, but the past year felt like a shedding of all of the dead weight we didn’t even know we were carrying- stories that weren’t ours but we adopted as ours in our journey, roles assigned by others for us that we never even asked for, beliefs we picked up that aren’t aligned with our values, relationships with past versions of ourselves and others that no longer suit who we are today.

Theres a sense of liberation, like we can finally exhale that long sigh of relief without wondering how long it’ll be before our world falls apart again. This time, it’s for good. This time, we know we’ve made it.

There are no more false starts. It’s the end of the beginning. It’s the end of all of the versions of yourself that brought you here- the versions that cried themselves to sleep, the versions that begged and pleaded for love, only to be given crumbs, the versions that were kicked when they were down on the ground, the versions that sacrificed their heart and happiness only to be met with unrequited love.

It’s the end of breaking your heart to fit in with people who don’t see your worth or value, ask you to change who you are, or dismiss your needs. No more scraps. No more leftovers.

It’s the end of wondering where you fit in in this world because you finally found belonging within yourself. And for maybe the first time in your life, you like being in your own skin.

It’s the beginning of a new story- a story where you become your own power source instead of giving it to others, don’t have to fight to be heard, don’t beg for approval, or even cry for love. You just need to exist as you are.

It’s the beginning of peace- quiet mornings with your morning cup of coffee or tea, feeling safe within your own body, spending time with people who appreciate and respect you as you are, and living life from a place of enjoyment, not survival.

It’s the beginning of everything you could have ever hoped for. I don’t know what you’ve prayed and wished for, but I hope you gave yourself justice by asking for everything you desire. Because you deserve to have everything and then some.

This is the year you come into remembrance of your power, of your purpose, of who you are. This is your renaissance.

So close your heart to everything and everyone that isn’t contributing to you becoming a better person, and open your heart to receiving your new life. Because it’s finally your time.

Happy New Year and I’ll see you soon…in the meantime, love yourself so much that even a Hallmark Christmas movie would be jealous.
