With the winter Solstice today, darkness is the prevalent theme as it is the shortest day of the year. Most people have a tendency to have a fear of the metaphorical darkness of their very own souls, but it should be the complete opposite; to embrace it fully and wholly. Carl Jung, a Swedish psychologist, was a pioneer in teaching the world to explore our shadow sides. Believing that we have archetypes, a light side and a shadow side, and that if we fail to explore our darker side, we can never attain happiness. So, how does this tie in with the winter Solstice? Read on to find out.
The winter Solstice signifies the dark overpowering the light, both figuratively and literally making this the perfect time to start exploring the dark within all of us. This isn’t a time to shy away from it. I used to suffer from seasonal depression and I strongly believe that it’s because I was denying myself of traveling into my own darkness. The winter months creates much more idle time which in turn becomes treacherous for a nomadic mind. But, that’s what also makes this the most wonderful opportunity to be objective with your thoughts. If you take the time to observe rather than actively participating in your own inner dialogue, you have the ability to travel into your own abyss while being protected by the light.
Taking a reprieve from life for a weekend to travel within will benefit you immensely during any seasonal shift. Search through the depths of your soul. Heal from within so that you can prosper in life.
Don’t get me wrong…this is heavy energy that we have. It will be followed tomorrow with a full moon in Cancer at zero degrees. Not only are full moons when our emotions are heightened, it’s when we should be releasing the old to start anew, but being at zero degrees signifies new beginnings. So, we have this dichotomy of releasing and beginning at the very same time all the while with the moon being in one of the most sensitive signs. As if that isn’t enough, Cancer rules the fourth house of home and family so you may find yourselves at a tug of war battle in your personal life and not knowing which direction to go. However, this isn’t meant to scare anyone, just a simple precaution to take preemptive damage control. The not knowing is the beauty of it because it creates an opportunity to learn even more about yourself that you thought to be possible.
The silver lining is that good things don’t come easily. If you take the time to properly nurture your needs and listen to everything that your body knows that it intuitively wants, you can prevail through this energy with flying colors. So, use this soulstice and full moon for your advantageous benefit to conquer yourself for yourself. Feel free to share your thoughts below on how your coping with this energy. We’re all in this together to help one another. Until next time…
