As we culminate yet another year of lessons learned, it’s time to embrace slowing the f*ck down. Because when we take the time to sit still, we hear the whispers of our soul, the rhythm of our heart’s desires, feel the love for ourselves.
Through finding meaning in the mundane, we can drastically alter not only our reality, but awaken to a new dimension of living. One where the worlds of love and magic collide to create a symphonic harmony.
A place that’s unparalleled to anything we’ve ever felt or experienced. An existence where we dare to dream our wildest dreams.
Which is why I’m going to be sharing with you 10 ways to create more meaning in your life today. Ready to radiate and glow the f*ck up? I sure hope so.
Let’s get started, shall we?
10 ways to create more meaning in your life
Do the things you keep saying you’ll do
Stop putting it off for one day. Tomorrow turns into a year. Before you know it, it’s been five years and you still have yet to do that one thing you keep promising yourself you’ll do.
Each day you wake up is a new beginning. Treat it as such. That means respecting yourself enough to honor your word and start creating the life you desire now instead of putting it on the back burner while daydreaming about it.
Want to learn how to knit or sew? Sign up for a course or even go on YouTube. Want to take a pottery class? Enroll in one. Want to decorate a cake? Do it.
The truth is, we’ll never be good at something when we first start out. But with time, we master the skills that were once foreign to us. So, if you think you’re going to suck and that’s reason enough to not start, think about the regret you’ll have for not having done the thing you keep telling yourself you’ll do.
Let’s move onto the next way to create more meaning in your life.
Give to someone
Giving to someone doesn’t have to be about money. Especially if you’re in a position where you’re unable to spare any.
You can give your time to a friend or family member who needs a voice of reason or shoulder to cry on. Bake cookies for a neighbor. You can invite someone over for tea and chat about anything and everything.
Giving just a little of yourself and your time will go a long way in making someone’s day. Because at the end of the day, what we remember about people is how they made us feel. Not how much money they spent on us.
Be the beacon of inspiration and the reason that someone is smiling. Which brings me to the next thing on this list.
Be intentional with your words and actions
How many times have you said or done something without truly thinking it through? As someone with a stellium of five planets in Sag, I can tell you this is the story of my life.
I mainly do then think later. Hence, the struggles with drinking. Though, since I’ve sobered up, I’ve gotten much better about it.
It’s about finding meaning in the most mundane of tasks. Living up to your expectations and honoring your word. Slowing down and relishing each moment as it comes. Creating a practice of being deliberate in your deeds.
Be intentional with what you want. How you show up for yourself. How you nurture the relationships with those you hold most close to your heart. Because one day, all you’ll have are memories. Make them count. Give them meaning.
Cultivate a new tradition (just for you)
Ok- I’m really grooving this one. It’s something I started doing when I sobered up and I’m obsessed. Now, I’m always on the prowl for new traditions to create for myself.
Not only does it help you to build a deeper connection with yourself, it brings so much more meaning to your life when it’s a solo tradition.
The best part about cultivating a new tradition just for yourself is that you get to explore your creativity. Whether it’s going to your favorite museum every time they have a new art exhibit or taking yourself out on a solo weekly date or even making one Christmas ornament per year, it’s your time.
Make it count with a solo tradition that’s special and intimate to you. Do something that inspires joy and happiness when you think about it. The best part is that you’ll learn to enjoy your own company (if you don’t already) when you embark on cultivating a new tradition.
Document your life (not through social media)
I’m not talking about obliterating your social media accounts with endless pictures. Though, if that’s your thing, all the power to you.
I mean an intimate experience where you can truly feel how special and unique your life is. To document all that which inspires you everyday so you can create more meaning in your life.
You don’t have to write in it everyday if you don’t want to. But you do have to put something in there everyday. You can take pics of anything that brings you joy and put it in there. Anything you find beautiful, inspirational, intentional- document it in a journal dedicated to creating more meaning in your life.
Who knows? It may even become a new favorite hobby.
Explore your mind, body, and soul
You can’t truly create meaning in your life if you’re not exploring your senses. Finding what makes your inner fire burn with eternal passion. Learning who you are. Expanding beyond the parameters of your horizon.
Which is why exploring your mind, body and soul is on this list. This isn’t a one time meditating session. This is an ongoing process- one you will always be engaging in.
So take your time. Honor where you’re at each day in your journey while savoring all the knowledge you’re gaining.
Do something each day that’s going to slowly take you out of your comfort zone. Read a poem a day, learn something new each day, try a new type of cuisine. Find what stimulates your senses.
Follow your heart
If you’re not following your heart, are you truly living? Because what kind of life are you living if you’re not being authentic to your desires? If you’re constantly striving to meet societal expectations and not your own, how can you ever truly be happy?
I can tell you from personal experience, when I succumbed to conforming to the status quo, I was so miserable. Because I wasn’t being “me.”
Besides, the human heart stores memories, feelings, experiences AND has 40,000 neuron receptors that think independently from the brain (SOURCE). Which means we have every reason to follow our heart.
Your heart is your soul’s compass so follow your inner wisdom. Because it will never lead you astray. Only to your destiny.
Which brings me to the next way to create more meaning in your life.
Feel your emotions
We live in a society where the world of western spirituality is saturated in superficiality- toxic positivity. Somehow, it’s believed that anyone who desires spiritual evolution has their heads in the clouds, floating off in la la land, dancing with rainbows and unicorns. All the while preaching about hugging trees all day long.
That mentality takes away from us ever truly evolving. If you want to grow, and I can tell if you’re reading this that’s exactly what you’re seeking, then you need to feel your emotions. All of them.
You can’t automatically dismiss anything that isn’t positive. Because the only way you’ll conquer those negative thoughts is to accept and acknowledge them. Not by ignoring them.
Feel the depths of your soul
Each negative emotion that surfaces is an opportunity to rise above them. They show up begging to be seen so you can take stock of what needs to be improved upon.
However, that also means you have to stop harboring the negative if you want to expand beyond the parameters of your current situation. I know…it sounds paradoxical. Because in a sense, all of life is an anomaly.
What needs to be conquered is how you respond to your emotions. Are you shoving them back into the crevices with the other emotional junk you don’t want to be burdened with? Or are you using it to be advantageously beneficial to you by feeling them with every fiber in your body so you can reach new heights in your journey?
Take stock of what you feel. Honor all of your emotions. Whether you perceive them to be good or bad because it’s going to help you to create more meaning in your life. And it’s also going to help you radiate and glow the f*ck up.
Learn who you are
Learning who you are is the bedrock of creating more meaning in your life. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it made this list.
However, we’re going down the road less traveled with this one. Because what fun is there in conventionality?
Astrology is the portal where your divine blueprint lays out the path before you. While we all have free will, we also have the advantages of seeing the bigger picture with the help of the celestial bodies.
Taking the time to dive into your soul’s purpose will shed so much insight into not just your personality, but your psychology as well. It shows how you can persevere through your life utilizing your strengths, the focal points you need to find, what career would be best suited for you, and even where to live so you can thrive.
You don’t have to hire an astrologer if you don’t have the funds to. A simple search in your birth chart which you can find HERE will highlight some key aspects for you. From there, you can delve deeper into your natal chart solo. Plus, it’s a really fun hobby once you get the hang of it.
Now- let’s move onto the final tip to create more meaning in your life.
