You’re probably familiar with the notion of how your thoughts affirm your reality.  Though that’s not entirely true.

Thoughts create energies which then define your reality. Which is why you need to have an abundance mindset if you want to have the life you continuously daydream about.

When you can properly match your thoughts with your energy, the life you want to create becomes a reality instead of a fantasy.

A few questions to ask yourself are:

  • When something doesn’t go your way, do you automatically start to think the worst?  
  • Do you concoct about 10-15 worst case scenarios?  
  • Do you worry relentlessly about how things may not pan out in your favor?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, then this post is perfect for you. Because it’s all about helping you to get out of the doom and gloom mentality so that your mindset can come into alignment with your energies.

Having a negative mindset is something that we’re indoctrinated with and not born with. So the silver lining is that it can be fixed with time and diligence.  The operative words are time and diligence.

If you’re consistent with making the effort to change around your thinking patterns, in just a few weeks you’ll notice a drastic shift in things working in your favor rather than against you.

The older we get, the more we’re exposed to negative crap that permeates our psyche and basically becomes psychological carnage.

Whether it be social media, TV, family, friends, teachers, or anything else that can impact the way you think, it will eventually impact the way you conduct yourself. 

If you’re thinking that your external environment is the creator of who you are, it’s both yes and no.  Because you’re aware of the fact that you have shaped into the person you are today as a result of everything and everyone around you is accurate.  

However, you have the ability to change that.  Yes you are who you are because of your surroundings.   But you also don’t have to be the person that you don’t want to be if you choose to make any changes.

Once you make the decision to have an abundant mindset, you can start to implement the changes that need to be made to help you get there.  Which is what it’s all about today.   

Let’s get started with how to attain an abundance mindset, shall we?  

Believe in yourself

The most important step to having an abundance mindset is to believe in yourself.   When you have the belief that you can do anything, especially how you think, your entire life will be transformed.  

Here’s one really simple exercise you can do to build your belief in yourself:

  • Write down ten times, “I believe in myself.”
  • Now write down all the negative self talk that surfaced when you were writing down the mantra.
  • Take all of that negative self talk and change them into positive affirmations.
  • Do this everyday for at least three weeks.

Belief doesn’t happen overnight, it happens over several nights. So if you want positive change, then you have to make it a habit to create positive change.

This only takes about 15 minutes out of each day which is only 1% of your time. Start believing in yourself today and with time, it will keep growing.

Pursue your passions

When you pursue your passions, your mindset will naturally evolve into a more abundant state.  Your passions are your life’s purpose, the reason why you’re here.  So you might as well not prolong the inevitable any more. 

You can’t sit around on the couch fantasizing about your future hoping that it’s going to change without any work on your end.  You need to make the conscious effort of making your dreams a reality.

The more excuses you make about why you can’t pursue your passions, the more you push away having an aligned mentality.  Not to mention, when you’re doing something you truly want to be doing, you have a never ending supply of motivation.  

Nothing can stand in between you and the results you want to have when you make the decision to follow your heart.  Start pursuing what you’ve been secretly desiring and see how your mindset starts to shift drastically.  

Surround yourself with positive people

If you’re thinking that the people you surround yourself with has nothing to do with an abundance mindset, it has everything to do with it.  

Take a minute or a few to think about how many times you were with so and so, who happens to be completely negative and always has something to complain about.  

How many times did you think to yourself “Oh, will they shut up already?”  Or even worse, agreed with them just to prevent an argument?  

And then afterwards, you replayed the scenario in your head wishing that you reacted differently and spoke up for yourself without compromising your integrity.  

Rather than focusing on the blessings in your life, you’re stuck in a position of wasted energy and time that could be better spent on what you really want.  

Make it a point to only surround yourself with those that boost your morale and enrich your life with positivity.  When you do, your mindset starts shifting to a higher vibration.

Nurture yourself

Not taking the time to nurture yourself is the antithesis of having an abundance mindset.  Abundance doesn’t necessarily correlate to money.  

It’s an all encompassing term for every facet of your life.  If you want to think richer thoughts, you need to take care of yourself.   

Let me give you an example.  Say you have a pet.  Would you let it starve?  Of course not.

Because you know that your pet’s health is dependent on how you nurture him or her.  So if you wouldn’t let your own pet go hungry, why would you not satiate your appetite for happiness, wealth, prosperity, health? 

You are the keeper of your own happiness so it’s time to nurture yourself with what makes you feel good about yourself.  It doesn’t mean that you have to go broke nurturing yourself.  What it does mean is that you need to luxuriate in the little indulgences that make and keep you happy.  

Take care of yourself and witness how the shift in your mindset elevates.  

Change your environment 

One important step to having an abundance mindset means changing your environment.

That starts with TV time and social media.  Choosing to turn yourself away from the dramatic events that are unfolding limits the negativity that’s being permeated into your psyche.  

Making a vow to be consciously ignorant of events that won’t contribute to your indoctrination of positivity will propel to new heights in your shift of perspective.

Ask yourself: Are you really being intellectually stimulated by what you hear and watch?  

If not, a detox would do you a world of good.

Not willing to quit cold turkey?  Try to decrease your time watching TV or being engulfed in social media by one hour a day.  Which is the equivalent of having one hour of your life back and ultimately, reshaping your mindset for more abundance. 

Distance yourself from what you know isn’t healthy for your mind because it’s a vicious cycle that will keep perpetuating if you don’t.  

Change your environment by limiting your intake of any media that will hinder your growth.  

Take aligned action

The more you take aligned action towards reshaping your mindset, the better your chances are of attaining it.  

This isn’t just about wishing and praying.  You need to work for it.  

If you’re choosing to cut down on TV and social media by an hour a day, utilize the time by developing new rituals.  Maybe you only have 15 minutes to spare.  

Time makes no difference.  It’s how you spend it. But do cherish whatever time you have because one day you will wish you had it back.  

Challenge yourself by spending your time in a productive manner.  Take aligned action towards what you want.  Do anything that will increase your quality of thoughts.  

You can:

  • exercise
  • start a gratitude practice
  • cook a healthy meal
  • meditate
  • spend more time with your kids
  • clean
  • organize
  • learn a new language
  • read
  • write down what your dream life looks like

When you take aligned action towards anything you want to do, not what you have to do, you become so much happier.  With happiness, comes an abundance mindset.

You have two choices…either be positive or negative.  The more you choose to be in negativity, the more you repel abundance.   The more you choose to be positive, the more you attract abundance.
