Heart Energy Exercises: 4 ways to deepen your connection with yourself

As a certified Reiki master and energy healer, I know it’s not always feasible for you to have access to deep level energy healing. Which is why I’m going to be sharing with you four heart energy exercises today. 

The added bonus is that you can do all of these exercises in the comfort of your own home and it only takes a few minutes a day. 

So if you’re looking to tap into more self-love and wanna deepen your connection with yourself, keep reading, cause it’s gonna be good. 

Before I get into it, I want to give you a brief rundown of the do’s and don’ts so you can heal your heart center more effectively. 


  • Set the intention of removing energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Only transformed. 
  • Perform the heart energy exercises around other people or while driving a car. 
  • Berate yourself if things aren’t clicking or you’re not “getting it.” Sometimes things take longer for it to be effective depending on the level of healing we have to do. 


  • Set intentions to transform your energy. For instance- grief to joy, sorrow to happiness, pain to pleasure, etc. 
  • Sit in silence while alone. These are intimate exercises meant to deepen the connection you have with yourself. Therefore, you want to do them solo. 
  • Be gentle and compassionate with yourself. If you’re in the process of being less self-deprecating, these exercises will help you to nurture yourself the way you deserve to be with time.

Now that’s outta the way, let’s get into the healing, shall we?

Hand to heart

This exercise is so easy and helps you to connect to yourself on a prolific level. Especially when you’re in need of Divine wisdom. 

All you have to do is place one or both hands on your heart until you get those warm and fuzzy feelings. Once you get there, you can either ask your heart a question or you can just sit in silence. 

If you have a question, your heart may not let you finish asking it before giving you an answer. It’ll be short, quick and to the point. In the event it goes off on a tangent, you’ve lost the connection to your heart and connected to your mind. 

That’s ok. You just have to bring yourself back into the connection to your heart space with the same technique. 

All it takes for this heart energy exercise is a few minutes each day to harmonize the heart and mind connection. So you might as well give it a try. 

Now, let’s move onto the next self-love tip. 


In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the bottoms of our feet are connected to different organs, with the heart being on the bottom of the left foot. You can see the diagram below as a reference. 

While I do highly recommend getting a professional reflexology treatment, you can do it yourself right in the comfort and privacy of your own home. 

Take the knuckles of your hands (doesn’t matter which one) and knead into your left foot. You’ll probably be more gentle on yourself than a pro, but you do want to feel a bit of tension. Just a few minutes of reflexology each day will be sooo soothing and calming for your heart and soul. 

I love doing this at night before going to bed so I can transform the stress and worries into pure f*cking bliss. And when you have a cup of herbal tea by your side, it’ll help you sleep like a baby.

Sweep it all away 

I’m so in love with this exercise because it’s incredibly cathartic. The best part? It’s super easy and takes minimal effort on your end. 

Here’s how to sweep it all away:

  • Ask yourself what needs to be transformed? i.e.- grief, sorrow, heartbreak, etc. 
  • If you can recall a particular memory that made you feel less than stellar, use it. 
  • Just a reminder that you’re not removing energy because it cannot be created or destroyed. Only converted. 
  • Once you have the emotions or memory, gently sweep your heart space. 
  • Envision it being replaced with happiness, love, peace, harmony, etc. 
  • It can take a few minutes or several, but you’ll get there. 
  • When you’re done, give gratitude to yourself for your healing journey. 

Heart meridian 

According to TCM, the heart meridian (one of twelve in our bodies) has three pathways. One running down to the small intestine. Another goes upwards along the throat and to the eyes. The last pathway emerges under the arm and runs along the inner side of the forearm, elbow and upper arm. It then crosses the inner side of the wrist and palm and ends at the inside tip of the pinky, where it connects with the Small Intestine Meridian.

We’re going to be focusing on the last pathway in this exercise because there’s one specific point, H7, shen men, which is known as the spirit gate.

Here’s how to perform this heart energy exercise: 

  • If you’re into essential oils, now’s the time to pull out your favorite blend dedicated to sensuality and love. 
  • Starting at each armpit, trace a line running down the inside part all the way to the tip of your pinky.   
  • Be really gentle because you want to be delicate in your touch to tap into your self-love. 
  • Once you’ve drawn the imaginary line, place a finger on your H7 point. You can use the diagram above as a reference. 
  • Give yourself a gentle massage on this point while applying a bit of pressure to open your heart to connecting with Spirit.
