So, yeah. We’re in a pandemic, with most of us in self-quarantine. Which is why you need a slew of activities to keep you from ripping the hair out of your scalp. Have no worries because I’ve created a list of 40 things to do when you’re stuck at home.
Being stuck at home when the weather is just starting to finally warm up is almost a tease. But, this isn’t to be taken lightly with the crisis that’s staring at us right in the face.
I’ve basically been in a self-quarantine since the news emerged about China facing their difficulties because I knew it would be a matter of time before the virus migrated to the U.S. Basically, I’ve gotten the hang of it and have managed to keep myself occupied without going crazy, yet.
Now that the rest of the country is following suit with lockdowns, I’m ready to come out of mine. C’est la vie. I’m just going to have to keep riding this out until it’s safe to emerge in the world again.
Find the blessing in these trying times
Before I continue with the list, I have to stress that there is always a silver lining to everything. Yes, times are scary. There is so much uncertainty. No one knows what tomorrow is going to bring.
But, did you ever really know what tomorrow was going to bring? There really is no predictability in life, just an expectation that we’ll wake up tomorrow doing pretty much the same thing as today.
That’s why we can find the blessing in life right now. We’re all in this together- no matter what your politics, race, or gender is.
This is the time to step up to the plate of your own life and take charge in a way that you’ve never done before.
How many times have you told yourself, “If only I had a little more time, I would do (fill in the blank). Well, now you have it.
Albeit, it’s not under the best circumstances. But, the important thing is that you finally have the time you’ve been craving to accomplish something on your daydream list.
Make this time count. It’s always in adversity that we find and see the best in ourselves. When we find our strength, our courage, and our bravery.
So, take this forced reprieve and start to live the life you’ve been dreaming about. With this list of 40 things to do when you’re stuck at home, you’ll surely find something to satiate your senses while making the time fly by.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Stimulate your intellect and curiosity with a book, or two, or even five. I’m sure you have books lying around your home that you haven’t finished or have been meaning to read. Well, now’s your opportunity.
2. Budget your finances
There is no time better than right now with the economic uncertainty to start evaluating what’s a necessity and what’s a luxury. Take a few hours to see where your money is going and how it can be better spent. Cut out what you no longer need. Save that cash for a rainy day.
3. Pick up a new hobby
Hobbies are such great distractions from the outside world and you learn something new. It can be scrapbooking, painting, drawing, anything. If you’ve been meaning to start a new hobby, try it now.
4. Learn a language
Speaking more than one language is beyond sexy and makes you more cultured. The beauty of it is that you can learn a new language for free with the myriad of resources available. Take it up a notch and when you have on the TV, play shows and movies in the language you’re learning to enhance your knowledge.
5. Enroll in an online course
That course or topic you’ve been wanting to learn more about? Do it. You can find them for pretty reasonable prices if you do some comparative shopping. There’s no reason why you have to dwindle your savings to learn something new.
6. Celebrate your inner child

Times, like right now, when you’re so unsure of what’s going to happen can wreak havoc on your body. Given that we are energy, it only makes sense to clear out all the unwanted and negative energies in our bodies consistently to keep up with our bodies and lives. 9. Get rid of old clothing
You know all the clothes in your closet that you never wear even though you insist that maybe one day you will? Yeah, it’s time to get rid of them. Don’t throw them away. Donate them or sell them for some extra cash.
10. Start a spiritual practice
There’s no better time than when you’re confused about the world at large to start a spiritual practice. If you already have one, enhance it a bit.
11. Reconnect with those you’ve lost touch with
Go through text messages, emails, and your contacts. Reach out to someone that you haven’t spoken to a while and say hi. Catch up. Connect with someone.
12. Start an at home exercise routine
There’s no reason to allow your fitness routine to be compromised right now, especially when you can do it in the comfort of your own home. You can find some great workouts and yoga sequences on YouTube.
13. Reprogram your subconscious mind

You have free time now. Which means this is an opportunistic period to nurture yourself. Create self-care rituals to take you to zen and out of the chaos.
15. Create beauty products

16. Write a book
You have a story within you. Write it. Even if you’re too bashful to share it with the world, write the story for yourself. You will be so damn proud of yourself for doing it.

Stimulate your creative juices and start doing something artsy. Resurrect your inner artist by learning a new craft. It can be any form of self-expression, sewing, knitting, crocheting. Anything your can think of.
18. Do a DIY project
There’s absolutely nothing more rewarding than you create something from start to finish. Doing a DIY project can be completely free if you already have the materials in your home. Look around and see what work of art you can produce.
19. Fix something that’s broken
I’m sure you have something broken laying around that you’ve been meaning to fix but couldn’t find the time. Even if it’s just replacing a bulb, do it. You’ll feel so much better.
20. Propagate plants
Plants are amazing for you and your health. In my opinion, you can never have too many. The beauty is that most plants can be propagated. Clip the leaves off of your existing plants or take a walk around your yard and cut some clippings. Give them a new life.
21. Shop your closet
Plan a day of playing dress up for no reason whatsoever. Try on different color combos and mix up unexpected prints. Create new outfits out of what’s already in your closet.
22. File your taxes
We’ve actually just been bestowed with a three month extension to tax season, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a head start on it. Take a day to get your receipts and paperwork organized and get your taxes filed.
23. Commit to loving yourself

34. Celebrate your life for the heck of it

In times of uncertainty, we usually turn to a power much greater than ourselves seeking answers through prayer. Instead of reciting a prayer you already use, take the time to write your own.
36. Reflect on what your dream life looks like
Really utilize this time to be advantageously beneficial for you. Figure out what you would like your life to look like six month, one year, five years down the road.
37. Reminisce with pictures
Spend a day going through old pictures. From baby pictures to present day pictures. Savor all the memories you’ve had up until now. Create a photo album while you’re at it.
38. Take care of your health
Writing is so incredibly cathartic for your mental, emotional, and psychological health. Start a journaling ritual every morning when you first wake up. The conscious mind is not yet fully awake so you have a great opportunity to gain some great intuitive insight.
40. Create something new
Anything can be art. Create anything you want. All you have to do is tap into your imagination and allow your creativity to guide the process.
